Zurich receives award for good governance The strong governance culture of Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) has been recognised with the company winning the Treasurer’s Award for Good Governance and Practice at the 2010 Australia and New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards. “The fact this award exists and is sponsored by the Treasurer recognises the significance of strong governance as a key ingredient to business success,” said Zurich’s Chief Executive David Smith. “Zurich has made great strides over the last five years in fostering a culture in which good governance has become not only a part of how we do business at Zurich but also a part of how we protect and add long-term value to the business,” he said. The Treasurer’s Award for Good Governance and Practice recognises five key elements of strong governance: · leadership and stewardship · empowerment and accountability · communication and transparency · service and fairness · measurement. “Zurich’s strong governance practices were central to surviving the global financial crisis unscathed and Zurich is extremely proud to see its efforts recognised through this prestigious award,” said Mr Smith.
