NSW Fair Trading Minister Puts Landlords On Notice

NSW Fair Trading Minister Anthony Roberts has told ABC the loss of hundred of properties has put further pressure on the already tight rental market. Apparently his department The New South Wales Department of Fair Trading has been asked to investigate landlords that price gouge in the wake of the disaster, “There are serious financial penalties for unconscionable conduct and those fines are $220,000 for an individual or $1.1 million for a corporation,”

he also praised the insurance industry “What we’re seeing is when someone loses their home, the insurance companies have been very proactive in this area finding homes for people,”
