Zurich Financial Services Australia (Zurich) has appointed Mr Howard Williams as its Head of Property for its Global Corporate Division. Zurich focuses on property as part of its key Global Corporate activities.

Zurich reported that “Mr Williams will lead the strategic development of the Zurich Global Corporate property portfolio, integrating Zurich’s leading insurance claims capabilities, expertise in risk management and multinational insurance pedigree to provide market leading solutions for insurance brokers and customers.”

Mr Kai Dwyer, Head of Global Corporate Business, said, “Howard’s appointment further strengthens the experience and capability of Zurich Global Corporate and reinforces our commitment to meeting the complex property insurance needs of existing large industrial and multinational customers. His focus will be to strengthen market relationships and sharpen our deal-making skills.”

Mr Williams has worked in the insurance industry since 1978. He has held senior positions within the Property Divisions of both AIG and ACE (formerly CIGNA) as well as several General Management positions with AIG. Howard was most recently the Manager for Underwriting Reinsurance and Product with the VMIA in Melbourne

The appointment follows a decision by the present Head of Property, Global Corporate, Mr Bob Little, who has decided to retire in July 2010. Mr Williams joined Zurich effective 9 March and Mr Little will continue in the role as Head of Property, Global Corporate, until his retirement in July, to ensure a smooth transition.
