Businesses providing critical infrastructure should do more than just take out insurance for natural disasters. This is according to a new online booklet released by the Federal Government’s Attorney-General Robert McClelland.
The booklet, Organisational Resilience, highlights the pressing need to look at possible risks before they happen. McClelland said the many severe weather events seen already this year are a troubling reminder of the need to plan for organisational resilience.
The booklet is available online for free. It shows what happens when a business is disabled for any length of time, how profitability is affected and the key attributes which can help a business bounce back from such disasters. It also highlights the need for critical infrastructure businesses to do more than have an insurance policy in place to cover any natural catastrophe damage.
