Beware when buying travel insurance from an Airline

With the rise in budget airlines and do it yourself holiday planning there has been rise in consumer stuck with travel insurance they didn’t want, they book their cheap fare only to notice they paid extra for insurance. Calls to the airline to cancel the insurance are meet with “Sorry this is a non refundable fare”. Broker Steve Sloan from Insure 247 explains that the airline’s are wrong, “All Insurance has a cooling off period of around 14 days”, “if you don’t have any luck with the airline, contact the insurer directly”.

Consumers that feel they have not received the appropriate response are urged to contact The Financial Ombudsman Service
